Frequently Asked Questions about our Rescues
Q: How do I adopt a rescue?
A: Please fill out a “Puppy Questionnaire” this also covers rescues and we will get back to you ASAP. We cannot guarantee you will be approved as we try and find the best fit for both dog and family.
Q: What do I get when I adopt a rescue?
A: When you adopt a rescue from Virginia Poodles and Doodles you receive all the shot/medical records. All dogs will be spayed and neutered- if we have the dog altered you will receive paperwork from the attending veterinarian proving the surgery. If the dog was surrendered already altered, I will not usually have this.
We will also send you with a sample of the food they are currently eating.
Leash, Collar and/or Harness.
All dogs will be microchipped and you will receive information to transfer this into your name.
Q: Do I get a health guarantee with a rescue?
A: No. We do not offer a health guarantee on dogs we rescue. We do not know the history of the dog and therefore cannot offer a guarantee. We do offer a 5 year guarantee on puppies we breed, but not dogs/puppies surrendered or rescued.
Q: Can I take the dog on a trial?
A: We do not offer a trial on dogs, the rescue has already been through enough stress and going to a new home and then being sent back is not in the best interest of the dog. You are welcome to come meet the dogs multiple times to see if they are a good fit.
Q: Can I surrender a dog?
A: If you need to surrender a dog, please contact us. We accept poodles, doodles and small breed dogs. We will spay/neuter your pet, get them up to date on vaccinations and grooming. We CANNOT accept aggressive dogs with a bite history.
