There is no better place to raise puppies than a farm in rural Virginia
Dirty floors but happy hearts here at Virginia Poodles and Doodles. We have 5 acres and the dogs have run of the property and the house- which isn't always the best thing when I came home to find a baby goat snuggling the dogs next to the wood stove! We give our parent dogs as much freedom and fun as possible, they run and play through the fields playing with the goats and being herded right back out of the field by our bossy turkey Tom. The puppies are raised indoors and underfoot, safe from everything everything except the ocassional baby goat that figured out how to use the dog door.
Owner of Virgina Poodles and Doodles, Shannon Carner:
The best puppies start with the best parents. All of our parents are health tested.
The best puppies start with the best parents. Health testing is our priority to make sure that only the best of the best gets into our breeding program. We start with the genetic screening on young potential dogs, using Paw Print Genetics to screen for common genetic issues arising in each breed. Then at 2 years old the dogs are screened by OFA- The Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) is a health database sponsored by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), we screen for hips, patellas and cardiac on all breeding stock. Any dog that doesn't meet our standards for exceptional genetics is spayed/neautered and retired to a life of ease chasing farm aniamals and being chased right back.
All puppies come with a 1 year genetic health guarantee, insuring you KNOW you are getting the best pet. All of our puppies are microchipped, come with flea, tick, heartworm prevention, vet paperwork and a puppy care booklet. There is always something fun happening!
We love visitors!
Watching children's eyes light up as they rip out of their parents hands and run wild across the field to point out all the things to see. When you're ready to meet your new best friend, your family is always welcome to visit, moms and in most cases the sires are on site and ready for a head scratch and a game of chase or ball.
